BASF Diminishing Asia Pacific Construction Chemicals Supply Gap
Yangon, Myanmar – May 18, 2018 – The rapid colonization throughout the Asia Pacific region has surged the demand for construction chemicals. With the upcoming manufacturing facility by BASF the supply for the construction chemicals is expected to bridge the gap. BASF has opened its first construction chemicals manufacturing plant in East Dagon Township, Myanmar. The new plant will be manufacturing custom made concrete admixtures which are the prime materials for concrete applications. Myanmar is visualized as an important region registering fastest growth in line with the company’s profitability, as stated by one the key members of BASF.
The new plant is expected to be within reach and stay close to the BASF customers and offer solutions that meet the growing demands for residential construction, and industrial and infrastructure developments. Thus, the market of concrete admixtures and allied industries in the Asia Pacific region seems to witness growth in the upcoming two years.
Increase in productivity and reduction in exports:
- Product Portfolio: The BASF plant will be equipped with features such as production facilities, laboratory for quality control purpose and a warehouse facility. The chemical company produces standard and custom-made performance admixtures, including MasterEase, MasterGlenium, MasterRheobuild, MasterPozzolith and MasterKure under the Master Builders Solutions brand.
- Industry Impacts: The major industry that is going to be impacted by the new plant would be construction chemicals and allied industries. This is because the admixtures form the most important component in the concrete handling and is responsible for a lot of changes in the properties of the concrete mixture. It is expected that the allied industries registers growth that would encourage capital investments and hence would directly benefit the customers.
- Largest Producer: “The opening of the new plant in East Dagon Township marks another milestone for us as we expand our manufacturing footprint in a new market and support the rapid growth of Myanmar’s construction industry with durable and energy-efficient products.” stated by BASF Thailand and responsible for Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Vietnam managing director Petrus Ng.
