Point-of-care diagnostics are medical devices or tools made available in proximity to the patient, in a satellite lab or in the in the clinic, rather than at a centralized laboratory. It includes both high and low-tech methods. The devices used are generally inexpensive, and provide fast and accurate results. It is also referred as satellite testing, near-patient testing, rapid diagnostics and self-testing. The global point-of-care diagnostics market is expected to grow at a CAGR of 7.7% during the forecast period 2018–2024. The global point-of-care market is growing with increasing incidence of infectious disease and lifestyle diseases (diabetes, heart diseases and others), increasing adoption of rapid diagnostics in various diseases and technological advancements related to testing procedures.
