The recycling and plastic waste has been in news recently, indicating the corporates in industry to take responsive measures to ensure the relevance in the changing environment. The developments such as limiting the Chinese acceptability for plastic waste from the US, and proposal of non-recycled plastic tax by the UK were in the lime-light for some time, impacting the corporate strategies for companies across the globe.
Dr. Martin Brudermüller, CEO BASF while presenting the organizational strategy in Ludwigshafen, was following the same path while he stressed on the environmental protection and circular economy at BASF. He signaled towards the changing governmental scenarios wherein the recycling related quotas and requirements are increasing supported by plastic customer initiatives to increase recycled material usage.
Dr. Brudermüller brought attention towards ChemCycling, a chemical recycling initiative involving BASF. He mentioned BASF being working with Remondis for this project while mentioning Recenso and Plastic Energy whose plants in Spain, producing pyrolysis oil utilizing thermochemical process.
